Meeting Called to Order

Reading of minutes from last
meeting- Read individually.
4.
Approval of Minutes
Motion by Jeanne Leong, 2nd by Ken Silber; approved.
5.
Treasurer’s Report- Estelle Jackson presented the report including July &
August’s dances.
The club has enough funds to pay expenses
to December, 2008. Reimbursement
expenses
were submitted for plates, cups,
napkins, stamps, roosters, boom box, Gene White made a
motion to approval all expenses, 2nd
by Jeanne Leong. Motion carried.
Frances Hein had suggestions of
addressing the continual increase in costs for monthly
dances 1) Change to a two rate annual
dues amount, Jan-June=Full dues; July-Dec=$60
2) Increase guest fees at dances to
$15/person or $25/couple 3) Increase annual dues.
Frances Hein, Estelle Hughes &
Jane Cuellar to investigate what annual dues increase would
be
appropriate & possibly increase dance allowance.
6.
Membership Report- Margaret
Hawkins reported 6 new members to be voted on:
Roy & Gail Scarazzo and Dwight &
Chere Grimes were present; Vicky Edwards and Cindy
Javier were not present.
T G Thomas made a motion to accept all new members, 2nd by
Jeanne Leong.
Motion carried.
7.
Social Chair’s Report Frances
Hein was social chair at the convention. Compared
to other
clubs, we are very efficient. Estelle &
Jim Hughes-September chairpersons, Jim & Claudine
Kephart-October; Steve Brown-November; Bob
& Karen Kandarian-December; T G Thomas
-January.
Frances is looking for a chairperson for February.
8.
July & August Dance Report- Margaret
Hawkins gave the report for Jack & Rosemary
Duffy, July’s chairpersons. 115 attendees, A
profit was made with guest fees & raffle.
The
food was donated by the committee members. Judy
Evans, August’s chairperson, reported
113 attendees.
BSD’s convention dance team & Bill & Gigi Day provided spot
light dances.
9.
Queen’s Report Marietta
Tan, Norbert Tan and 4 BSD members traveled to Palamar’s well
attended
coronation on July 12, 2008. 60 BSD
member attended the Convention. A
great
time was had by all who attended. Rose
& Steve Peterson took 1st place in Cha Cha, Wendy
& Ben Wilson took 1st place in 1 star waltz and 2nd
place in 2 star waltz. BSD’s
dance team
took 4th place. Special
thanks to Joel & Seeta Brown for opening their suite for the Queen’s
party.Patrick Leung provided the snacks.
Music was good at the convention, but all are
looking forward to the wonderful music provided in Bakersfield by the
Targets.
10.
Old Business. Bill Landry reported on
the Delgates’ meeting at the convention.
Bakersfield
has the most members and charges the least for dues.
Any concerns that members
have
should be submitted in writing & given to an officer.
Our officers will hold an officer’s
meeting
to present the concerns to the general members.
BSD’s By-Laws are on the web.
11.
Motion to adjourn Ken Silber, 2nd
by Dorothy Chapman.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35pm.
